In the 1930’s , the Soviet Union government, craving for giant and ambitious projects, attempted to develop a universal machine that could be propelled both in the air and water. Boris Ushakov’s flying submarine became a striking example of the implementation of such a plan, which turned out to be too impressive not to leave a trace in the history. 1938, the project was closed – reason was the lack of machine’s mobility underwater so the “vehicle” would be easily detected by the enemy ship’s radars.
