Müfettişler teftiş, denetim, inceleme, araştırma ve soruşturma çalışmalarını aşağıdaki teftiş türlerini esas alarak yaparlar.

16.11.1991 tarih ve 21053 sayılı Resmi Gazetede yayımlanarak yürürlüğe giren Çalışma ve Sosyal Güvenlik Bakanlığı İş Teftiş Kurulu Yönetmeliği’nin 47.
maddesine göre; müfettişler teftiş, denetim, inceleme, araştırma ve soruşturma çalışmalarını aşağıdaki teftiş türlerini esas alarak yaparlar.
1. İşin yürütümü yönünden:
 Genel teftiş: İşyerlerinde işin yürütümü yönünden çalışma hayatına ait tüm mevzuat hükümlerine uyulup uyulmadığı hususlarında yapılan teftiştir.
Aşağıda belirtilen hallerde;
 Program gereği,
 İhbar ve şikâyet üzerine yapılan incelemekte ftişleri sırasında, işyerinin daha önce teftiş görmemiş veya teftiş görmüşse iki yıl öncesine kadar genel teftiş
görmemiş olması halinde gene! teftiş yapılır.
 Kontrol teftişi: Genel teftişin sonucunda genel teftişe aykırılığı veya noksanlığı tespit edilen hususların verilen süre sonunda yerine getirilip getirilmediğinin
kontrolü amacıyla yapılan teftiştir.
 İnceleme Teftişi: İşyerlerinde işin yürütümü yönünden yapılan ihbar, şikâyet, işkolu tespiti, işçi sayısı ile sendika üye sayısı tespiti, grev oylaması ve bu
gibi Kurul Başkanlığına veya gruplara incelenmek üzere intikal ettirilen konulardan teftiş hizmetiyle bağdaşır nitelikte olanlar hakkında yapılan teftiştir.
2.İşçi sağlığı ve iş güvenliği yönünden:
 Genel teftiş: İşçilerin sağlık ve güvenliklerini tehlikeye düşürecek hususlar İle iş kazası ve meslek hastalığı sebeplerini tespit ve önlemeye yönelik olarak
işçi sağlığı ve iş güvenliği mevzuat hükümlerine uyulup uyulmadığı açısından yapılan teftiştir. Aşağıdaki halterde Genel Teftiş yapılır:
 İşyerlerinde ilk defa yapılan teftişlerde,
 İşletme belgesi verilmesinden sonraki ilk teftişlerde,
 Bir önceki teftişte işyerinde noksan bulunmaması halinde,
 İşyerinin başka bir yere taşınmasından sonra,
 İşyerinde büyük ölçüde makine, tezgâh, üretim değişikliğinden sonra,
 İşveren değişikliğinden sonra,
 İnceleme teftişleri sırasında işyerinin teftiş görmemiş olması halinde,
 İnceleme teftişi: İşyerlerinde İşçi sağlığı ve iş güvenliği konularında ihbar, şikâyet, iş kazası, meslek hastalıkları, kurma izni incelemesi veya teftiş
esnasında gerek görülmesi halinde yahut Kurul Başkanlığına veya gruplara incelenmek üzere intikal ettirilen konulardan teftiş hizmetiyle bağdaşır
nitelikte olanlar hakkında yapılan teftiştir.
 Kontrol teftişi: Genel, Kontrol ve İnceleme Teftişleri sonunda mevzuata aykırılığı veya noksanlığı tespit edilen hususların verilen süre sonunda yerine
getirilip getirilmediğinin kontrolü amacıyla yapılan teftiştir.
3. Sendikalar ve konfederasyonların teftişi yönünden:
 Genel teftiş: Sendika ve Konfederasyonların yönetim ve işleyişi, gelir ve giderlerle ilgili olarak yetkili organlarca alınan kararların ve harcamaların kanun,
tüzük ve Genel Kurul kararlarına uygun olup olmadığı açısından idari ve mali yönden program gereği yapılan teftiştir.
 İnceleme teftişi: Sendika ve Konfederasyonlarla ilgili olarak yapılacak ihbar veya şikâyet üzerine gerçekleştirilen teftiştir.

3. Inspection of trade unions and confederations:
